Carbon Street Emergency Fund
On the afternoon of June 18, 2024, a gas leak in the basement of a Carbon Street home in Syracuse, NY ignited, causing an explosion. The house collapsed with two families trapped inside.
The lasting effects of this tragedy are immense; physically, emotionally, and financially.
At the request of United Way of CNY partner agencies Catholic Charities and InterFaith Works, we are accepting financial donations from members of the community who wish to help the two impacted families.
100% of donations will be passed on to Catholic Charities and InterFaith Works to cover the extensive current and future needs of these two families. The goal is to raise $75,000.
Donations will be used to pay for essential needs including:
Housing
Medicine, co-pays and/or uncovered medical expenses
Transportation for medical appointments and treatment
Food, diapers, hygiene and other essential products
Clothing
Furniture
Small appliances and household goods
School supplies for the children
