As a result of the passage by Congress on August 20, 1964 of the Economic Opportunity Act, Community Action Agencies – like PEACE, Inc. – were established to foster equal opportunity, empower the disenfranchised, promote inclusion, and respect and value diversity.
In 2002, the PEACE, Inc. staff and Board of Directors expressed a desire to publicly recognize individuals and organizations who, in a variety of ways, consistently respect and value all forms of diversity in our community.
It was decided that an annual dinner would be the forum to salute our community’s Champions of Diversity. The main criteria for selecting our honorees is their affirmation and dedication to PEACE, Inc.’s mission statement: helping people in the community realize their potential for becoming self-sufficient.
More details on the event coming soon! In the meantime, please take a few minutes to learn about our programs and how you can be involved.
